Our friend Saddi (name changed) was getting married.
Although we were making plans for a bachelorette , but our hectic schedule ,an
obstacle. Finally ,just few days before
the wedding, we decided to spend at least a night together.
Without making much effort , we decided for a resort near
a beach. Well, the location was in a very secluded place but we didn’t pay any
heed to it.
After work we three ( me ,Saddi and Anj ) met and the excitement in us was
over flowing. We couldn’t find any cab to the resort online so we convinced a cab to go offline (
no doubt the driver doubled the charge).
On the way we were making plans for the activities
starting from jumping into the pool to watching the sunset at the beach , setting
our soul free with some drinks and finally participating in Karaoke singing
even if we are famous( or infamous ) for our high-pitched horrid voice.
It was around 5:30
in the evening , we were close to the resort. There was a certain kind of chill
in the air and it was pitch dark as if it is already midnight. Not a single
vehicle or face to be seen around and to make things worse no street light was
there. On one side of the road , it was the night sea roaring , and to the
other a dense forest with trees resembling giants and somehow inclined towards
us. The view was enough to seize hold of our speaking ability for the rest part
of the journey .
Finally ,we reached the destination ,the resort we were
so excited about. As soon as we stepped out of the cab , we started looking at
each-other with confused expressions (the place was dark and deserted).
The gate-keeper escorted us to the lobby and after some
formalities we were again escorted to our hut shaped cottage . The light was dim and the place was full of
greenery ( although it was looking more blackery at that time). It was dark ,
the calmness and vibration of the place was something we had never experienced
before. Till then, we were not sure about the presence of other Homo Sapiens in different cottages.
Our cottage was cosy and comfortable , we laid down
ourselves in the bed and were in a certain state of delirium. After some discussion we gathered the courage
to go out and explore a little , at least the restaurant area where we can eat. We
stepped out , Saddi locked the door as I was finding it difficult to lock.
After walking a few steps the power went off and the resort was dead dark. We
three started screaming , of course the security guards came and assure us that the
power will be restored in a minute . We gave sour look to them and headed for
the restaurant.
The sea was close to the eating place. We decided to make
full use of the rest of the evening. We ordered food , we started talking ,
discussed our lives and slowly it was comfortable to see people around.
In the meantime, Anj felt a strong urge for a shower and
I also decided to get a little fresh. Saddi decided to sit and enjoy the view a
little more.
Anj went to the bathroom first , I switched on the TV and
started watching Man vs Wild in the Discovery channel. When she came out , I
told her to go to Saddi as she was sitting alone. Anj refused saying that there
are people around her but I forced her to go. I locked the door from inside ,
not sure about the locking system. While I was taking bath , I heard Anj and
Saddi opening the door and Saddi shouting at me for not locking it properly , I
was smiling inside. And then she changed the channel from Discovery to some music muttering
something to Anj about my choice of channels. And just then I came out of the
bathroom. To my horror there was no one in the room and it was colder than
before. I told myself that it was just an imagination and started dressing up.
Meanwhile ,I heard a knock at the door and took a deep breath as I saw Anj and
Saddi.
I told the girls everything . Both were sharing
bewildered look ,while I was assuring them that it was just an imagination of the mind. But then Anj
told me that they were having almost the same conversation but near the bar (it was at a good distance
from our cottage).
We three sat still, panic –stricken and decided to put an
end to our evening activities .
In the morning, as we woke up , it was like ,we are in an
altogether different place. The chillness ,the vibrations and the hair-raising feeling was gone with
the night.
